'Taste 58' takes its title from the 58th chapter of the book of Isaiah, which says: 'Break your bread for the hungry, untie the fetters of the people whom one unjustly imprisons, free them from the yoke of slavery, give Homeless to the homeless and give him clothes, help where you can and do not close your eyes. '
Of the more than 1.2 billion people living in extreme poverty, there are approximately 900 million children. Worst of all, out of about 7.7 billion people, only an estimated less than 30% of humanity has really tasted what it means to accept Jesus as the personal Savior.
These people did not choose their destiny voluntarily and should not be left to that.
'Geschmack 58' is a nonprofit café-bistro in Germany that aims to point out the problems and make clear what the yoke of injustice, poverty, hunger and exploitation in our world is doing. In contrast, volunteer people work in the café, which fight against it exactly - motivated by their faith in Jesus Christ.
'Geschmack 58' is a bridge to faith as well as an alternative to other meeting places, for friends, acquaintances and colleagues.
That's why the Café-Bistro project 'Schmeck 58' is also a call: 'Be part of sharing the taste and taste what it means to live 58'.

„schmeck 58“ nimmt seinen Titel bzw. Namen vom 58. Kapitel des Buches Jesaja, in dem es heißt: „Brich dem Hungrigen dein Brot, löse die Fesseln der Menschen die man zu Unrecht gefangen hält, befreie sie vom Joch der Sklaverei, gebe dem Obdachlosen ein Zuhause und gebe ihm Kleider, helfe wo du kannst und verschließe deine Augen nicht“.
Von den mehr als 1,2 Milliarden Menschen, die in extremer Armut leben, sind ungefähr 900 Millionen Kinder. Das Schlimmste jedoch ist, das von ungefähr 7,7 Milliarden Menschen nur schätzungsweise weniger als 30% der Menschheit wirklich geschmeckt hat, was es heißt, Jesus als den persönlichen Erretter anzunehmen.
Diese Menschen haben sich ihr Schicksal nicht freiwillig gewählt und sollten dem auch nicht überlassen werden.
„schmeck 58“ ist ein gemeinnütziges Café-Bistro welches auf die Probleme hinweisen und deutlich machen soll, was das Joch der Ungerechtigkeit, Armut, Hunger und Ausbeutung in unserer Welt anrichten. Dagegengesetzt arbeiten ehrenamtlich engagierte Menschen im Café, die sich genau dagegen wehren – motiviert von ihrem Glauben an Jesus Christus.
„schmeck 58“ ist eine Brücke zum Glauben sowie eine Alternative zu anderen Begegnungsstätten, für Freunde ,Bekannte und Kollegen.
Deshalb ist das Projekt Café-Bistro „schmeck 58“ auch ein Aufruf: „Sei ein Teil davon, den Geschmack weiterzugeben und schmecke selbst, was es heißt 58 zu leben“.
Schmecke und erfahre, wie Du als Christ der Armut, Ungerechtigkeit und dem Joch der Sünde, entgegentreten kannst.
